Multiplying 1-Digit Number

Multiplication is nothing but the repeated process of addition. We can express the multiplication as the repeated addition of the same number. It is one of the arithmetic operations. The symbol of multiplication is “x”. Multiplying a 1-Digit Number means multiplying one-digit number by another one-digit number. Students can find the detailed process of multiplying two 1-digit numbers along with the solved examples in the below-mentioned sections of this page.

How to Multiplying Two 1-Digit Numbers?

When you multiply two or more numbers, the result obtained is called the product. The two operands of multiplication are multiplier and multiplicand. At first, we will learn the process of multiplying 1-digit numbers. One digit numbers are numbers below 10. Check the simple process below.

  • At first, students have to take two one-digit numbers to find their product.
  • Write the numbers one after the other in two different columns.
  • Include into “x” symbol before the second number.
  • Draw a horizontal line below it.
  • Remember the multiplication table of the first or second number to get the product.
  • Write the product number in the third column after equal to symbol.

Example:
5 x 7
5 x 7 can be read like 5 times 7
Here 5 is multiplicand and 7 is the multiplier
Multiplying 1-Digit Number 1
5 x 7 = 35
So, 5 is the product.
The addition fact is 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 35 which is same as 5 multiplied by 7.
